During the show the kids baked edible decorations for the Christmas tree this week. They will decorate them during our next session.
For vanilla cookies you will need:
500g flour
200g butter
200g sugar and 1 tablespoon golden syrup
3 eggs
seeds of 1 vanilla pod
Combine the butter with the sugar and golden syrup and cream using an electric mixer. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla. Sift in the flour and mix with a large metal spoon then use your hands to form the dough. Wrap in cling film and place in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours.
Prepare a baking dish by spraying with baking spray. Roll out the dough dough on a floured work surface.

Use cutters designed to allow a ribbon to be threaded through and cut out the cookies. Bake at 160C for 10 minutes Let cool completely for a few days before decorating them.
For the ginger biscuits you will need:
350g flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
125g butter
175g brown sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp golden syrup
We did not have time to decorate them yesterday !
Preheat oven to 160 C
Sift the flour and add the butter cut up into small pieces. rub the bitter into the flour. Add the bicarbonate of soda, ginger, mixed spice and cinnamon. Mix. Stir in the beaten egg, mix with a forn then the golden syrup and bid together to form a dough. Wrap and refrigerate for 1/2 hour.
Roll the dough out to a 0.5cm thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use gingerbread men cutters to cut out the cookies and place on the baking tray covered with baking paper. Leave a gap between them.
Bake for 15 minutes until they turn light golden-brown. Leave on the tray for 10 minutes before removing them.
